River Skerne Maintenance

ATM have carried out work on the River Skerne in the North East of England as part of our Maintenance Framework contract with the Environment Agency.

The team worked on a section of the River Skerne that runs through the centre of Darlington, removing self-set trees and pruned branches to improve water conveyance through the area.

Also removed, were two 20 yard skips worth of debris, ranging from shopping trollies, traffic cones, and even car bumpers.

To ensure safe access and egress to the channel, temporary mobile steps were installed at strategic locations. These temporary installations would also ensure emergency services could attend with ease should the need arise.

This method was deemed a great success by the Environment Agency, who are now looking at the same methods to assist with their own operations in similar circumstances.
